Valley vs. Quyon in RA Final Series

Valley Wins Semi-Finals Against Rebels - Valley Will Meet Quyon in the Finals
By Ottawa Valley Raiders Fastball Club

OTTAWA—The Valley Raiders beat the Orléans Midget Rebels 6-0 last night in Game 3 of the RA Centre’s best-of-three semi-final series. With the win, Valley advances to the finals to face the Quyon Junior Flyers.

‘FEATHERS’ EARNS SHUT-OUT
Freshly returning from the International Softball Congress II Tournament of Champions, Darren Featherstone pitched a complete game shutout for Valley. He allowed only one hit and surrendered only one walk. He struck out 17 Rebels.

VALLEY BATS TOO MUCH FOR REBELS
Valley jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Shortstop Chad Milne and catcher Rich Antunes reached base on walks. Lukas Kamps advanced the two runners with a sacrifice bunt. Centerfielder Will Mood followed with a three-run homerun.

Nick Bowman started the third inning on the mound for the Rebels, in relief of Chad Hargrove. Antunes led off the third inning with a walk, and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kamps. Antunes scored from second on an RBI double by Mood. Mood then scored on an RBI double by third baseman Tyler Cox, putting Valley ahead 5-0.

Valley added one more run in the fourth inning. Leftfielder Derek Bergeron reached by on a bunt single. A pitch by Rebels reliever Bowman then hit Milne in the arm, advancing Bergeron to second base. Bergeron then scored when Kamps singled to right field. The score remained 6-0 throughout the rest of the game.

FINALS SET
Despite the self-dubbed “Valley Legacy,” Valley enters the finals as underdogs with only one win in five games against Quyon this year. Valley’s only win against Quyon was a 9-1 triumph in the Manotick Dickinson Days Tournament.

Congratulations to the Rebels on a good season and a well-fought series.
