RA to operate with 5 men's teams this season
Looks like the Ottawa RA league will have five men's fastball teams this summer. League play starts on Monday May 14th at the RA Centre.
The defending champion Valley Raiders return for another season in the RA League.
The Orleans Rebels midget program will be playing in the RA League again this season. (The 'graduating' players from Orleans last year have formed the new Gators team and will play in the GOFL.)
The Shawville Snappers have made the move from the McNab/Braeside Junior League to the RA this season.
Despite there being only five teams in the RA League, Team 6 returns to the loop with the same name for this season.
And interestingly, the fifth and final team is known as Ed Taylor's Team. Catchy name, don't ya think? Good luck to Ed and the boys, whomever they may be.

Interesting... although it makes me wonder why Valley never put a team into the Greater Ottawa League. Perhaps it was a committment thing, I don't know... That team has proven that they are good enough time and time again to compete against the best teams around, so why not play them on a regular basis? Although everyone strives for success, I would think that the novelty of winning the RA championship year after year would be wearing off soon.
I believe Ed Taylor is a comic who had a sitcom in the 1990s about his family and his tool show.
Yes, indeed, I do believe that Valley had issues getting a full team lineup to committ to the GOFL, and that's why the dropped out early rather than folding in the middle of the season.
Watch however for several Valley players to be sprinkled throughout the league on various teams.
Valley players or GOFL captains, feel free to email me or "comment" on who is playing with what teams in the GOFL.
Update from Derick Bulley:
"Ed Taylor's team is the reincarnation of CBU...Ivan Taylor is running the team and his father has sponsored jerseys and hats for the boys."
