WC Electric defeats Manotick 5-0
West Carleton Electric defeated Manotick by a score of 5-0 in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday night in six innings.
Bud Hanlon had the win for Fitzroy, throwing 5 innings of shut out ball, allowing only 4 hits, striking out 8 and walking one. Brad Porter threw the final inning three up three down for the 'Trics, striking out one.
Trevor Lahey threw the complete game for Manotick, allowing 5 earned runs over 5 innings, 8 hits, striking out 7 and walking one.
Shawn Rebertz started things off for Fitzroy in the bottom of the second stroking a double. After being sacrificed to third by Michael Cavanagh, Rebertz scored on a Neil Murphy RBI single to put the home team up 1-0.
Jason Armstrong led off the bottom of the third with a double, then scored on Trevor Barton's RBI single. Despite runners on first and second with none out, Lahey managed to pitch out of the jam to keep the score at 2-0 for Fitzroy.
Fitzroy scored two in the fourth. Steve Cavanagh walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch, then scored on Jason Armstrong's triple to the fence. Armstrong subsequently scored on Barton's second RBI single of the night to make the score 4-0.
The WC Electric final run was scored on a solo Troy Wilson home run in the fifth.
Manotick managed five base runners on the night, but was unable to score any, and conceded after 5 1/2 innings as per the league mercy rule.
