Manotick and Stittsville tie at 4

from Tony Riches

Manotick and Stittsville tied at 4-4 in GOFL play on Wednesday night in Manotick.

The game started off like it wouldn't last an hour, with the teams combining for 12 strikeouts in the first 2 innings. Manotick scored in the bottom of the second on an error. Stittsville scored in the 3rd on a walk, some wild pitches and a sac fly by John Craig.

Manotick got 2 runs in the 4th on an error, a John Lindsey triple and a Calvin Medynski single to take a 3-1 lead.

Stittsville replied with a big 6th inning, as Sam Oliver drove in Darren Featherstone to make it 3-2, then Darren Ladouceur hit a 2 out, 2 run homer to give the 56ers the 4-3 lead.

Manotick came back to tie it in the bottom half on a Steve Edgerton RBI single and seemed poised to take the lead with runners on the corners and no outs but Dan Bradley was able to escape the jam with no further damage.

Trevor Lahey got the start for Manotick and had relief from Shannon Borho.

Dan Bradley started for the 56ers, then was relieved by Darren Featherstone, with Bradley returning in the sixth.
