Wednesday night GOFL play - updated
Manotick 5 Orleans 2
from Tony Riches
Manotick scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to defeat a shorthanded but game Orleans squad 5-2 Wednesday night. Nick Bowman pitched a complete game and drove in both Orleans runs with a clutch 2-out single in the second inning. Trevor Lahey had another solid outing and looked again to be the victim of a lack of run support before the late rally.
Manotick scored their first run with the seldom used Joe Allan/Tony Riches double steal in the third but Bowman worked his way out of several jams before tiring in the seventh. A Steve Walman triple got things going before an RBI single by John Lindsey, followed later by a tough play for Orleans to score the winning run in which the throw to the plate hit the runner. Joe Allan drove in two insurance runs with a 2-out single.
Easton 8 Orleans 1
from Spud Morrison
Easton beat Orleans 8-1 Wednesday night to close out their regular season. Dan Konkle got the win while Derek Bergeron took the loss. Easton only had 5 hits on the night but took advantage of the 10 walks issued by Bergeron to induce the mercy rule after 5 innngs. Pat O'Connor led the way offensively for Easton going 2/3 with 2 runs scored while Dan Konkle 1/3 2B 2Rbi and Lukas Kamps 1/2 2Rbi chipped in with the other Easton hits. Joel Langford 1/3 2B Rbi and Matt Alkerton 1/2 had the only Gators hits
