Carp I4C Victory season preview

from Eric Rosenquist

The Carp I4C Victory fastball club heads into the 2009 season hoping to improve upon its 5th place finish in 2008 and get back to the form that saw it finish 1st in the 2007 regular season.

The core of the team remains the same, however there have been some key changes with founding members Mike Money (ACL surgery) and Shawn Houle (family commitments) gone and ace pitcher Dan Konkle joining the I4C ranks. With the addition of Konkle to starters Neil Cooke and Trevor Wood, I4C has increased its pitching depth substantially.

For tournaments, the team is pleased to have Orleans Gators Chad Hargrove and Joel Langford back for another season, and Pat Severin will be back behind the plate for many of the team's games. The Victory plan to attend several local Ottawa-area tournaments, plus the team's perennial "away" favourites such as Au Sable Forks NY and Elkland PA.

Carp's home games are at the Carp Fairgrounds on Thursday nights starting at 8:30 PM. Admission is free and there is ample seating in the bleachers. Consult the league schedule at www.gofl.ca for full details.
