Stittsville takes Game 1 of GOFL finals
The Stittsville 56ers won Game 1 of the best-of-five GOFL final series at the Grove on Tuesday night with a 7-1 victory in six innings over the visiting Quyon COMBAT Flyers.
It was a beautiful fall night for ball as Dan Bradley had the win with a complete game 4 hitter, while Drew Hathway took the loss.
Quyon scored their first batter of the game as Shawn Laframboise lead off with a single and scored on a Matt Greer triple in the first.
Stittsville took the lead in the fourth. Scott Herriot lead off with an infield single. Herriot moved to second on a wild pitch, then scored on a Darren Featherstone single to right. Dan Jessiman's two run homer made the lead 3-1.
The 56ers clinched the game on the six-run mercy rule with a four run sixth. Scott Herriot lead off the inning with a monstrous solo HR. Then after a strike out, Dan Jessiman reached on an error, Ryan Bond singled, and Scott Jessiman walked. After the next batter K'd, Ben Gigliotti walked to score another run. The subsequent two RBI single by Dan Bradley made the lead six and ended the game.
