West Carleton Electric win game 1 over Carp 7-4

West Carleton Electric beat Carp I4C Victory 7-4 in Game 1 of the best-of-five playoff series on Thursday night in Carp.

Andy Barber had the complete game win for the Electric while Neil Cooke took the loss with relief from Cody Price.

Fitzroy scored four runs in the top of the first inning to start the game. Andy Barber lead off the game with a walk. Back to back walks by Jon Daley and Jeff Barber loaded the bases. Neil Murphy's off hand single to left scored Andy, and when the ball was misplayed the bases were cleared and Murphy was on third base.  Derek Barber's ground out scored Murphy and the score was 4-0.

WC got another run in the fourth. Derek Barber lead off with a walk. Trevor Barton's sac bunt moved him to second base. After a strikeout, Jeff Cavanagh's single scored Barber for a 5-0 lead.

Carp made it close, putting up four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Neil Cooke stroked an off hand triple to start the inning. After a ground out, Shawn Simzer's single scored Cooke. Kevin McGuire then tripled and was cashed on Matt McNish's homer.

The Electric got two insurance runs in the sixth when Cody Price came in to relief Cooke. Derek Barber started the inning with a triple. Price struck out the next two batters, but Jeff Cavanagh's homer made it 7-4.

Andy Barber shut the door in the sixth and seventh with two three-up-three-down innings, earning the Caveman's Choice as player of the game.
