Blackburn playoff update

from Derek Martin

The Blackburn Men's Fastball League playoffs are now down to just 4 teams with two games scheduled for tonight.

Game 1 at 7pm will see the #1 seeded Knights face off against the #6 seeded Blue Jays. The Knights will need to continue their offensive output that has seen them put up 20 runs in just 2 game thus far in the playoffs. Chris Macfarlane and Derek Martin have led the way for the Knights, both hitting 2 round trippers in the first 2 games of their playoff run. Look for the Knights hot bats to carry them past the Blue Jays.

The Jays are coming off a strong offensive showing of their own, upsetting Goodfellows 6-2 to knock off the #2 seed. Let by Tyler Borris and Andy Barber, look for the Blue Jays to silence the Knights bats and continue their push to the finals.

Game 2 at 9pm should be a nail biter between Goodfellows and The Braves. Both teams finished the season tied with 27 points. Goodfellows won the season series 2-1 with each game being decided by only 1 point. The Braves are coming off a big 13-7 win over Gloucester Heating. Look for their bats to stay hot while Nick Bowman and Will Mood try to keep Goodfellows offence at bay.

Goodfellows are entering tonight’s game after an intense game over the Bandits on Tuesday which saw the game go down to the wire. Ultimately ended by a walk off HR by Shannon Borho in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Be sure to come check out the action tonight in Blackburn. It all kicks off at 7pm.
