NAPA Shockers to face Farmers in Ashton League Finals

from Eric Rosenquist

The NAPA Shockers defeated the Ashton A's 10-9 on Thursday night to complete the preliminary round of the Ashton Men's Fastball League playoffs. The Shockers move on to face the Ashton Farmers in the best-of-three A final while the A's will host the Whitewater Brewers in the B final. Game 1 of the A final is scheduled for 7PM on September 19th with the B final following at 9PM.

The A's got off to a quick start on Thursday, scoring 3 in the top of the first, but the Shockers batted around and plated 9 in the bottom half. The A's responded with a pair of runs in the top of the 2nd to cut the deficit to 9-5, but the Shockers scored a run of their own in the bottom of the frame to make it 10-5. The A's kept chipping away at the deficit, but ultimately fell just short, stranding a pair of runners in the top of the 7th with the score 10-9 Shockers.

Chris Parish got the win with a save from Steve Cavanagh while Matt Carter took the loss with relief from Trevor Scott. Fred Olmstead hit a solo home-run for the A's.
