WC edges Kars 8-7

West Carleton Electric overcame a 5-0 deficit to come back to beat the Kars Aces 8-7 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Tuesday in Fitzroy Harbour.

Adam Rueckwald had the win for the Trics, relieving Ben Broek. Nick Ellis took the loss after coming on for starter Kurtis Summers.

The Aces put up five runs in the first. Kristian Knapp walked and scored on a Summers double. Ellis then walked followed by a two RBI single by Dylan Toms. Danny Powers homered onto the upper diamond to put Kars up 5-0.

WC responded with a Trevor Barton solo homer, and Sean Lecuyer scored after hitting a double and scoring on an error.

The Trics scored two more in the third, with Conner Hopper and Rueckwald driving in runs.

Kars put two more on the board in the fourth. Brad Pender singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored when Summers reached on an error. Summers later scored on an Ellis sacrifice fly deep to centre.

West Carleton tied it up at 7-7 by plating three in the fifth. Lecuyer's three run homer scored Owen Brown and Barton who had walked.

The winning run was driven in in the bottom of the sixth by 17 year old Colton Lecuyer with his first ever GOFL hit. Rueckwald singled, was replaced by Neil Murphy on the two out pitcher rule, moved to second when Gabe Brown walked, and was plated with young Lecuyer's hard hit single through the infield.

A three up three down top of seven sealed the victory.
