West Carleton Electric win silver at U20 Provincials
West Carleton Electric won silver at the Ontario Amateur Softball Association U20 Provincials held in Sydenham on the weekend.

The Junior Trics took the long road to the final. After winning their first game, they lost their second on Saturday to the Chatsworth Longhorns. Three straight wins on Sunday put them in the Final, against Chatsworth where they ran out of gas.
The first win of the event was an 8-2 victory over St. George on Saturday morning. Thomas McLean had the complete game win.
The first loss to Chatsworth was 12-9 on Saturday afternoon. WC got down early 11-1 with some uncharacteristic poor defensive play, but battled back to make it close. The Brothers Barton each had a home run with Jack hitting one inside the park and Finn a three run shot. Kaden Fowler took the loss and had relief from Carter Marshall.
With heavy rains starting after the second game, the remaining matches were pushed to Sunday.
West Carleton started off with a 12-1 win over Tavistock. McLean earned his second win of the weekend. Colton Lecuyer had a grand slam for WC.
Next up was an 8-7 come from behind win over St. George. WC was down 6-1 at one point but scratched put the victory. Marshall took the with relief from Fowler.
Next up of the three games in a row was a matchup against Plattsville Lightning, a team which went undefeated at the Eliminations earlier in the month. West Carleton got the upset 6-5 win, again coming from behind. With the score 5-4 in the seventh, Finn Barton hit an in the park HR to tie it. Fowler walked, was moved to second and scored what proved to be the winning run on a single by Jason McIntyre. McLean picked up his third win of the weekend in relief of Fowler the starter.
That set up a rematch with Chatsworth, a team on their second game of the day, while WC was playing four in a row. The Electric got out to an early lead but simply ran out of gas, falling to the Longhorns 12-4. McLean, Carter Wright, Ethan Howard and Finn Barton all pitched in this one.
West Carleton will now prepare for the U20 Men's Canadian Championship in Carp on August 4-9 where they will be the host team. They will be joined by Chatsworth, Plattsville and St. George from Ontario as well as teams from Quebec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador and Saskatchewan.
