uOttawa wins four in Fitzroy

The uOttawa Gee-Gees had a four win weekend in Fitzroy Harbour to improve to 6-2 to start the season. 

On Saturday the Gee-Gees won 4-3 in an extra inning game against the Waterloo Warriors. Waterloo took an early lead in the game but Ottawa came back with the help of back to back triples by Chloe Milne (Gatineau, QC) and Samantha Bartley (Oshawa, ON). In the top of the international tiebreaker 8th inning Gee-Gees catcher Izzy Carpenter (Mississauga, ON) had a well executed pick off at third base to eliminate the placed runner and keep the score tied 3-3. In the bottom half of the inning Kaitlyn Flear (Sydenham, ON) stole third and came home on a Sarah Power (Middle Cove, NL) sacrifice fly to win the game. Erin Federal (Milton, ON) and Serena Parlee (Riverview, NB) pitched for Ottawa.  

In the second game the Gee-Gees scored early and often to win 12-7 against the Warriors. Milne was 3 for 5 with 2 triples and 4 RBIs while Flear had 3 RBI of her own. Parlee got the win on the mound while Brooke Cammisuli (Whitby, ON) pitched one inning of relief.  

On Sunday the Gee-Gees swept the York Lions 8-2 and 9-4. Game one was highlighted by an excellent pitching performance from Federal and Cammisuli. Amanda Rastad (Coquitlam, BC) had a 3 hit game while Flear and Jordan Pickard (Kemptville, ON) had two hits each and Milne hit a solo homerun. 

In the fourth game of the weekend Josie Rogers (Moncton, NB) started on the mound and Parlee came out in relief. Offensively the Gee-Gees were fueled by a 3 hit performance by Power, triples by Milne and Bartley and doubles from Carpenter and Rastad. Laneah Colwell (Whitehorse, YT) had an outstanding diving catch in left field and then threw out the runner at third for a double play. 

These wins built on the opening weekend success where uOttawa beat Windsor 3-1 and McMaster 9-2 while losing to Brock 6-3 and Laurier 8-0. Next weekend the Gee-Gees are on the road to play Toronto Metropolitan University and York.
