Orleans Rebels at the Midget Elimination Tournament
The Orleans Rebels Midget Fastball Team competed in the OASA Midget Elimination Tournament June 30 - July 2, 2006. Nineteen teams gathered in Napanee to determine who would represent Ontario at the national midget tournament in Prince Albert, SK, in August and to seed teams (A or B) for the provincial championship tournaments.
The Rebels, who play in the RA League, finished second in the tournament with a 4-2 record, compiling wins against Kitchener, Copetown, Selkirk, and Napanee. The two losses came at the hands of the Scarborough Royals, who went through the tournament undefeated. In the game with Kitchener, Chad Hargrove pitched a no-hitter, striking out seventeen batters.
The Rebels are now in the process of raising funds to defer players costs associated with air travel to Prince Albert, accommodations, meals, etc. The costs per player are expected to be approximately $1500.; at a time of the year when tuition fees are due along with textbook purchases.
If anyone out there can financially assist the Rebels or can offer any leads to sponsorships, please contact the team manager, Gary Hargrove, at 613-837-2831 or e-mail him (the_hargroves@sympatico.ca).

How about passing the hat at some upcoming GOFL or Blackburn games to help out these fine young adults who are committed to the game of fastball.
c'mon big joe, i think the adults can budget a little bit and afford to help out the kids.
How about their parents who show up and squeal at the umps each game come up with the cash themselves??
Now now everyone let's play nice.
Let's not let the comment board degenerate into nastiness like some other boards.
Don't make me use the delete key!
Personally I'd like to say good luck to Orleans for their trip to the Nationals - and good luck with your fundraising.
whats everyone getting so wound up about? all that was asked for was if anyone had any leads to any sponsorship opportunities...other than that i dont think anyone from orleans has said anything...we arent asking for cash donations here..
