Orleans has great start at Midget Nationals

Orleans Rebels had a good opening day at Midget Canadians in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, going 2-0 with wins against Quebec and BC 1.

Orleans opened the tournament with a 10-1 win, in a 5 inning mercy against Quebec. Chad Hargrove picked up the win with 8 strikeouts. Offensively, Max Serre went 2-3 with 4 RBI, including a 3 run shot and Joel Langford went 3-3 and scored twice.

In the afternoon game Orleans won again beating BC 1, the Sooke Royals, by a score of 6-4. Chad Hargrove went the distance again to pick up the win. Brenden Werthner went 2-3 with including a 2 run home run. Matt Alkerton made the defensive play of the game in the 5th with a diving catch to take away an extra base hit, with the Sooke Royals threatening.

Orleans plays BC-2, the Port Alberni Blazers, on Monday.
