Stittsville / Carp on Thursday night
from Sam Oliver
The weather held just long enough as the 56ers defeated the Carp I4C Victory 4 - 1 on Thursday night. The last out of the 5th was recorded underneath flashes of lightening, and before both teams could reach their dugouts, the sky opened up and a torrential rain ended the gameafter 5 complete innings.
Stittsville opened the scoring in the top half of the first when with two out Sam Oliver doubled to right scoring Scott Herriot who had struckout and reached on a wild pitch, and Dan Jessiman who had walked.
I4C responded in the bottom half of the first when Kevin McGuire hit Dan Bradley's first pitch of the game deep over the right field fence. Carp continued to threaten with singles by Steve McLaughlin and Al Reid however Bradley was able to pitch out of the jam.
The 56ers scored again in the 2nd. Bradley hit a long fly ball to rightfield that was misplayed by Matt McNish allowing Bradley to reach third and eventually score on a ground ball off the bat of Darren Ladouceur.
The only other run of the game was a Dan Bradley home run to centerfield in the 4th inning.
Bradley takes the win (5IP, 1R, 1ER, 5H, 1BB, 10K, 0HB, 0WP).
