Easton prevails 2-1 in game one - with details

Easton pulled out a 2-1 victory last night at the Grove in Stittsville to open their best of 5 semi-final. Dan Konkle got the win on the mound for Easton while Neil Cooke suffered the loss.
The game was scoreless through the first 3 innings as both teams were having trouble cashing base runners.
Carp opened the scoring in the top of the 4th with two outs as Trevor Wood singled to center and was plated by an Eric Rosenquist double to the gap in right center.
Easton answered back in their half of the 5th as Dave Tubman led off with a single then Chad Milne was HBP to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Kevin Chevrier then hit one back to the mound which Cooke fielded and tried to get the runner at 3rd but nobody was covering the bag loading the bases for Easton. Next batter Todd Fraser hit into a fielder's choice erasing Milne at 3rd but scoring Dave Tubman in the process to tie the game. After a wild pitch put runners on 2nd and 3rd Randy Peck grounded out to second base scoring Chevrier and putting Easton up 2-1. Cooke was able to get Cory Morrison to ground out to 2nd base and end the inning.
Carp threatened in the 7th as Shawn Simzer led off with a single but was picked off at 1st on a failed Rosenquist bunt attempt. With two out Cooke singled and the next two Carp batters walked to load the bases. Konkle was able to get Kevin McGuire to hit into a fielder's choice to end the game.
