Quyon 3 Blitz 1, Flyers advance to semis
Quyon COMBAT Flyers defeated the Ottawa Blitz 3-1 in Quyon on Thursday night to win the best of three quarter final 2 games to 1.
Drew Hathway had the win for Quyon. Hathway had 17 strikeouts and allowed only four hits. Jamie Blakely took the loss, allowing only five hits.. Both pitchers had complete games.
Matt Greer's solo home run in the second inning gave Quyon a 1-0 lead.
In the third, Luke Young singled, stole second and scored on a Dennis McCleary single.
The Flyers scored their third run in the fifth. Dennis McCleary walked. When Shawn Laframboise's sac bunt was overthrown into right field, McCleary came all the way around to score.
The Blitzos run came in the top of the seventh. Derick Bulley doubled and scored on a Derek Bergeron single.
With the victory, the #3 seed Flyers will move on to face the #2 seed Team Easton in the best of five GOFL semi final series. Game 1 will be Tuesday night in Stittsville at 8:30, with Game 2 anticipated to be in Quyon on Thursday at 8:00.
