Manotick defeats Carp, moves on to semi-finals

report from Tony Riches

Manotick used a 5 run fourth inning to propel the Printers to a 6-0 victory in the deciding game of their quarter final matchup with Carp Wednesday night.

Paul Ceppi continued his strong season, tossing a two hitter and extending his scoreless inning stretch to 14 in the series. As he did in the two previous games, Neil Cooke again started for Carp, escaping a bases loaded jam in the first inning before Manotick`s bats came to life a few innings later.

Don Cox started the fourth with a bunt single and the Printers loaded the bases with a pair of hard fought walks by Steve Walman and Jeff Jacobs. Lindsay Medynski then came through with his second hit of the game, a two run single to open the scoring. Trevor Lahey followed with a long home run to widen the lead to 5 and end Cooke`s night on the mound. Trevor Wood relieved and retired the next two hitters but Manotick closed out the game in the fifth on a triple by Cox and an infield RBI single by Jacobs.

Manotick advances to face Stittsville, with that series opening in the Grove Thursday night at 8:30 and continuing in Manotick next Wednesday at 8.
