Quyon evens series with 3-0 win over Carp

Quyon COMBAT Flyers evened their best-of-three GOFL semi-final series on Thursday night in Carp with a 3-0 win over I4C Victory.

Drew Hathway had the shutout win, throwing a 4-hitter. Frank Cox took the loss, in relief of Neil Cooke.

Carp loaded the bases in the bottom of the second with one out on a Shawn Simzer single, followed by walks by Tony McDonald and Neil Drummond. But two strikeouts got the Flyers out of the inning.

The game was scoreless after five innings, until Quyon plated a run in the sixth. Shawn Laframboise singled, stole second and scored on a Drew Hathway RBI single.

The Flyers added two insurance runs in the seventh. Tim Craig reached on an error and scored on a Steve McCord home run to straight away centrefield.

The deciding game of the series will be played in Quyon on a date to be determined.
