GOFL Week 3 wrap up
A summary of week 3 action in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League, in which we got all five games in despite some sketchy weather.
Stittsville 14 Kars 4 (in 5 innings)

The 56ers rebounded in a big way to earn their first win of the season at the Grove on Wednesday by defeating the defending champions 14-4. Darren Featherstone had the win while Chris Hall took the loss for the Aces. Dan Jessiman, Ryan Bond and Adam Smith all hit homeruns for Stittsville.
Blitz 6 Carp 2

The Ottawa Blitz got their first win of the season in the early game of the Wednesday doubleheader in Manotick over Carp I4C Victory by a score of 6-2. Provided with some early run support, Derick Bulley pitched 5 2/3 strong innings for the win, giving way to Shannon Borho for the final 4 outs. For Carp, starter Ryan Chatten took the loss and was chased early after surrendering 6 runs. Neil Cooke provided solid relief and some pop off the bench with the bat via a solo home-run, his first in the GOFL.
Barrhaven 11 Fitzroy Harbour 4 (in 6 innings)
A big first inning was the difference in this late game of the Manotick doubleheader, as the Broadway Blues capitalized on three WC Electric errors in the first frame to score seven runs off starter Bud Hanlon. Andy Barber came in to relieve Hanlon and finish the game. Chad Hargrove went the distance for the win for Barrhaven. Joe Allan, Steve Edgerton, and Jordan Adams all had two hits for the Blues, as did Lindsay Medynski who drove in four runs. Jon Daley and Derek Barber had two hits apiece for the 'Trics.
Quyon 8 Blitz 0 (in 5 innings)

The Quyon Combat Flyers won their fourth in a row with a 8-0 vicotry over the Ottawa Blitz in the home opener Thursday night in the PQ. Matt Greer had the win on the slab, while Shannon Borho took the loss with relief from Derick Bulley. All runs scored by the Combat Flyers were on homers as Steve McCord had a three-run bomb as did Michael Baker and Drew Hathway had a two run shot. Quyon has outscored their opponents 30-4 in their first four games of the season.

In a high scoring contest Thursday night at the Carp Fairgrounds, the 56ers won their second in a row with a 9-8 win over I4C Victory. Darren Featherstone had the win, while Neil Cooke took the loss. Cooke continued with his hot bad and added another home run, as did Eric Colvin for Carp. Scott Herriot and Ryan Bond had homers for Stittsville.
