Micksburg and I4C Victory split doubleheader UDPATED

The Micksburg Twins and I4C Victory split a doubleheader in Manotick on Wednesday night in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play.

In the opener, Micksburg was lead by an 18-strikeout performance by Corey Costello to defeat I4C by a score of 3-0. Andrew Putnam took the loss.

In the second game, the host I4C Victory squeaked out a 2-1 win. Neil Cooke had the win on the slab fanning 14, while Corey Costello again went the distance for the Twins, striking out 12.

The Micksburg Twins traveled down to Manotick for a double header last night vs I4C Victory. 

Game 1: Micksburg 3 I4C Victory 1

Corey Costello got the start in game 1 for the Twins and Andrew Putnam had the ball for I4C. 

After a scoreless first inning, Micksburg got on the board in the top of the 2nd with a solo home run by Mike Moss. 

The Twins would add to their lead in the 3rd. Riley Hennessy started it when he ended up on 2nd after a throwing error by I4C. Two batters later Costello would single up the middle to drive in Hennessy. 

I4C had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the 4th. Matt McNish started it with a double off the left field fence. Bobby Jack followed with a single and took second on the first pitch to the next batter. This put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Costello shut down the comeback attempt with 2 k's to get out of the inning. 

The Twins continued to add to their lead in the 5th inning. Kyle Jackson lead off with a walk and eventually came around to score on a fielder's choice by Jamey Mick. 

That would be all the scoring for game 1 as both pitchers threw well. The Micksburg Twins got the win in 3 - 0 over I4C. 

Corey Costello gets the Caveman's Choice player of the game for his 18 strike out 2 hitter and going 1-3 with a RBI.

Game 2: I4C Victory 2 Micksburg 1

Game 2 saw Neil Cooke start for I4C and Corey Costello again for the Twins. 

For the second game in a row the Twins would start the scoring. Kyle Jackson lead off the top of the first with a triple. Riley Hennssey then drove him in with a single to shallow center field. 

I4C responded in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1. Dan Loney lead off with a single and then stole second base. He then advanced to 3rd on a ground ball by Bobby Jack Hart and scored on the throwing error by Micksburg.

I4C took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd. Dan Loney lead off with a triple to the fence in left field. Kevin McGuire would then double to score Loney. 

This would be all the scoring for Game two. I4C gets the win 2 - 1 over Micksburg. 

Neil Cooke threw very well getting 14 k's and only facing 24 batters. Costello continued his good pitching only allowing 5 hits adding 11 more K's for a total of 29 on the night. 

Neil Cooke gets the nod as Caveman's Choice player of the game with his 4 hitter, striking out 14 batters.
