I4C shuts out West Carleton 2-0 - from last week

I4C Victory shut out West Carleton Electric 2-0 in a well-played Greater Ottawa Fastball League game last Wednesday in Manotick.

Andrew Putnam had the win, allowing only two hits and striking out 12. Andy Barber threw well despite taking the loss, allowing four hits and striking out 11.

The Electric had their best chance of the game in the top of the second. Jeff Barber singled to start. After a strike out and a pop up, Andy Barber and Kevin Shonfeld walked to load the bases. Shawn Rebertz hit the ball hard up the middle, looking sure to bring in runs, but Curtis Scurr's diving stab stopped the ball and Victory got the force out at second base.

Victory scored their runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kevin McGuire walked to start the inning, and stole second. A ground rule double by Putnam put men on second and third for Scurr who hit a two RBI single.

Caveman's Choice as player of the game goes to Curtis Scurr.
