MIcksburg and Kars split doubleheader - WITH DETAILS

The Kars Aces and Micksburg Twins split a doubleheader in Manotick in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Wednesday night.

In the opener, Brad Porter lead the Aces to a 2-0 shutout. Joran Graham took the loss.

The late match saw the Twins rebound with a 6-1 win. Corey Costello was the winning pitcher, while Luke Severson was tagged with the loss.

The Micksburg Twins traveled to Manotick Wednesday night for a double dip with the Kar Aces.

Kars 2 Micksburg 0 

Game one Brad Porter took the mound for the aces and the Twins countered with Joran Graham.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 4th when Nick Ellis led things off with a single, later advancing to second on a passed ball and then scoring on a Shawn Forbes RBI single to right.

Kars added another run in the 5th as Jon Ferguson reached via walk and advanced to second on a passed ball, later scoring on a infield error making the score 2-0 Aces.

The Twins threatened in the 6th as Matt McIyntre and Jamey Mick both singled to start the inning but were left stranded. The Twins were not able to mustard up any offence as the Aces shut them out 2-0 handing the Twins their first loss of the season.  Porter earning the complete game 6H shutout.

In the second game of the night the Twins sent Corey Costello out to the mound and the Aces started Luke Severson. 

The Twins got things started in the first as with two out Joran Graham hit a line drive triple to right center field. Next batter up Corey Costello hit a hard single to left scoring Graham giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The score would remain 1-0 till the bottom half of the 4th as Shawn Forbes reached on an error, then advancing to second on a passed ball. The Aces cashed in the runner from second on a Cory Morrison single to left. 

The Twins regained the lead in the top of the 6th Corey Costello led off the inning by reaching on an error, then Jordan Donahue reached on a bunt single. With two out Jamey Mick came in to pinch hit, the Aces elected to walk the hot hitting Mick giving Twins runners on first and third. Next up Scott Conroy hit a hard line drive to left that evaded a diving left fielder allowing the ball to roll to the fence scoring both runners and giving Conroy the rare inside the park homerun.  

The Twins added to their lead in the 7th as Chad Costello drew a walk bringing Graham to the plate who hit a 2-run shot to left giving the Twins a 6-1 lead. This was enough for Costello who retired the side in the 7th earning the win and the Twins their 5th win of the season.
