The Quyon Flyers hosted the Stittsville 56ers in GOFL action Thursday night.  Trevor Lahey got the ball for the home side while Stittsville countered with Dan Konkle.

The Flyers opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning.  With one out, Shawn Laframboise reached first with an infield single and scored on Matt Greer’s triple.  Greer then scored on a Joe McCleary RBI single to make it 2-0 Quyon.

Lahey was perfect through 3 innings and the Flyers added to their lead in the bottom of the 3rd.  Greer and McCleary started things off with back-to-back doubles to make it 3-0.  Dennis McCleary then drew a walk.  Lahey then reached safely to load the bases when nobody covered 1st base on his sacrifice bunt.  Steve McCord’s sac fly scored Joe from 3rd.  Konkle was able to get out of the jam without further damage with two strike outs.

The 56ers got on the board in the top of the 4th.  John Craig drew a leadoff walk and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch.  Lahey retired the next two batters with a ground out and a strike out.  Craig would then score when Ryan Bond’s soft grounder to 3rd base was thrown away, making it 4-1 Quyon.

The Flyers added another 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning.  With one out, Laframboise and Greer hit back-to-back solo shots to straightaway centre.  Joe McCleary singled and was put out at 2nd on Randy Frobel’s ground ball to 1st.  Frobel advanced from 1st to 3rd on Lahey’s single.  McCord and Jordan Kearns each singled to bring in the final two runs of the night.

After a clean top half of the 5th the mercy rule was invoked.
