WC splits games in Manotick - WITH DETAILS

At the doubleheader on Wednesday night in Manotick in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play, West Carleton Electric defeated I4C Victory 7-0, then lost to Kars Aces 9-3.

In the first game, Andy Barber threw a shutout, scattering five hits, and also contributed two RBIs. Shane McNish took the loss and had relief from Cody Price.

The Electric got on the board in the third. Jonny Daley and Trevor Barton drew back to back walks. The bases were loaded when Cole Bolton hit a slow roller to second and Barton evaded the tag. Barber's two out double scored two, with a third scoring on a misplayed throw to third.

West Carleton added another the fourth. Jeff Cavanagh reached on an error, moved to second when Neil Murphy walked, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Charlie Ross's sac fly to right field.

The visitors added three runs in the fifth to make it 7-0. Barton singled, and took second when Bolton's grounder was misplayed. A walk to Barber loaded up the bases. A wild pitch scored and Barton, and Cavanagh's ground out scored Bolton. Murphy later singled to score Barber.

Kars Aces 9 West Carleton Electric 3

For the night cap, Brad Porter of Kars earned the win, with Luke Severson seeing two innings of relief. Steve Cavanagh was tagged with the loss while Cole Bolton threw in relief. Danny Powers lead the Aces offensively going 3 for 4 with a home run and four runs batted in.

The Aces wasted no time getting three across in the first. Brad Pender doubled and scored on Cory Morrison's single. Powers the homered.

West Carleton got one back in the top of the second. Jeff Cavanagh doubled and scored in Neil Murphy's single. 

Kars got another two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Chad Milne walked and Jordan Shipclark hit a blooper into shallow right field that just eluded a fully extended Trevor Barton. A sacrifice bunt by Porter put two in scoring position and Kristian Knapp singled to bring them both home.

The home team pushed the lead to 7-1 in the third on back to back to back doubles by Morrison, Powers and Matt Alkerton.

The Electric got back two in the fifth. Daley walked and scored on a misplay on a Bolton single. Andy Barber's RBI ground out scored Bolton to get the 'Trics within four runs.

However the Aces scord another two runs in the sixth as Pender singled, stole second, moved to third on the throw on the steal and took home on Knapp's sac fly. Nick Ellis singled, took second on a wild pitch and scored when Powers singled.
