Stittsville and West Carleton tie at 9
The first game of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League doubleheader in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday between West Carleton Electric and the Stittsville 56ers was a high scoring affair with the teams ending squared at 9 runs each.
Steve Cavanagh started for WC and had relief from Jeff Barber. Kyle Olson did most of the pitching for Stittsville with Adam Smith relieving for one batter.
The 56ers got on the board in the first with a two run homer by Dan Jessiman which brought in Aaron Amo who had singled.
West Carleton immediately responded with three runs in the bottom of the first frame. Andy Barber walked to start things off, moved to second on Jon Daley's single and they both scored on Jeff Barber's three run homer.
The 3-2 Fitzroy lead lasted until the fifth. Stittsville scored five runs on a variety of defensive miscues.
The 56ers added another pair of runs in the sixth. Dan Jessiman's double brought in both Jamie O'Hare and Luc D'Entremont who had each singled.
The home team responded in the bottom sixth. With two out, Andy Barber singled and scored on Daley's double. A two run shot by Jeff Barber made it 9-6.
Down three in the last inning, West Carleton plated three to get the game tied. Neil Murphy reached on a misplayed ball. After a fly out and a strike out, Adam Brown singled and the ball subsequently got thrown away to allow Murphy to score. Then Andy Barber's two run homer tied the game.
