Stittsville and West Carleton tie at 6
West Carleton Electric and the Stittsville 56ers tied at 6 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in a drizzly game on Wednesday at the Grove.
Luc D'Entremont went the distance for 56ers while Steve Cavanagh and Andy Barber split pitching duties for WC.
Stittsville scored first on a solo homer by Kyle Gourgon in the third.
Fitzroy answered back with four runs in the fourth. Jeff Barber walked with one out and Steve Cavanagh singled. Barber scored on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, a walk to Jon Daley put two on for Alex Boucaud, whose high fly ball was misplayed allowing two to score. Boucaud also scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2 Trics.
West Carleton added another two in the fifth. Shawn Rebertz walked to start the inning and advanced to second on a ground out. Andy Barber and Neil Murphy walked to load the bases. Boucaud's single drove in two to make it 6-2.
The 56ers tied things up in the bottom of seven. Gourgon singled with one out, advanced to second on Darren Ladouceur's single and the bases were loaded when Tyler Nystedt walked. Jamie O'Hare had a tough at bat and walked to reduce the lead to three. Dan Jessiman's sac fly deep to right-centre scored Ladouceur and advance the other runners 60 feet. When Al Read's grounder was misplayed two scored to tie the game. A ground out ended the rally.
