Greater Ottawa Fastball League expanding to nine teams

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League, the premier men's fastpitch softball league in eastern Ontario and western Quebec, intends to expand to nine teams for the 2019 season.

Orleans will re-join the GOFL after a ten year hiatus. Orleans previously had a team in the league from 2007 to 2009. They Rebels will play, as the previous club did, at Pierre Rocque Park.

Kemptville was a GOFL 'affiliate' last season, playing each team once in games that counted in the standings. The Black Sox will play home games at Riverside Park as they did in 2018.

The seven returning teams and their home diamonds are: West Carleton Electric (Fitzroy Harbour CC), Ottawa Valley As (Carp Fairgrounds), Micksburg Twins (Micksburg CC), Quyon Flyers (Quyon Fairgrounds and Shawville R.A.), Stittsville 56ers (Alexander Grove Park), I4C Victory (Manotick Arena) and Kars Aces (Manotick Arena).

With the addition of the two teams, there will be an unbalanced schedule to reduce travel.

The league also decided to go with best-of-three playoff series for the entirety of the playoffs, following a one game "play in" match between the 8th and 9th place finishers.

The GOFL will start play the second week of May.
