2019 BMFL Playoffs - detailed preview

The 2019 BMFL playoffs get underway on Tuesday (tonight). It’s a double knockout format.
First match up of the playoffs at 7 pm will see number 2 ranked Blue Jays face off against the Knights, ranked 7. The Blue Jays will have Andy and Jeff Barber toe the rubber and they will pitch in offensively as well. Catcher Spencer Rodd will also look to continue his stellar hitting into the playoffs. The Knights are looking to bounce back after a rough regular season. Ryan Chatten and Jamie Blakey will be throwing and Chris McFarlane will look to spur the offense via the long ball.
Second match at 9 pm on Thursday will have the number 3 ranked Rogues play against the number 6 ranked Bandits. Only 1 point separates teams ranked 3 to 6. The Rogues will look to continue their best regular season finish in a number of years. Perennial innings pitched contender, Matt Cox, will do most of the pitching and the team will look for offensive contributions from the whole lineup. The Bandits will send veteran Pierre Lalonde to the mound. The long ball has played an important part of the offense for the Bandits with Max Lalonde, Vincent Gascon and Phil Bédard in the top 10 for homeruns hit.
The lone Thursday match is at 7 pm and will have the number 4 Bytek Braves against number 5 N-Powerment Elite in what has become an annual event. Expect a lot of offense out of this matchup. Bytek will have Nick Bowman and Will Mood to toe the rubber and will be led by Jeremy Regan and Matt Bowman offensively. The Elite will send Derick Bulley to the mound who will also lead the offense. Ryan Mitts and Marcel Mondoux will also contribute offensively.

Regular season champions, Goodfellows get a bye in the first round after posting an impressive 13-3-2 record. They are led by lefties Shannon Borho and Will Lowe. Goodfellows will look to continue their strong offense output and solid defense into the post season; they were plus 73 in runs for and against.
