Rueckwald perfect in Fitzroy

The Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League experienced a rarity on Wednesday night - a perfect game.

Adam Rueckwald retired 21 straight batters through seven innings to lead Grandor Farms to an 8-0 victory over the Campbell Fuels Logsplitters. Austin McCord caught for Rueckwald.

Harbour Ball rules generally limit pitchers to no more than four innings, but with Grandor's two other pitchers unable to attend, Rueck went the distance.

The perfect-o was nearly broken up when the twenty-first batter of the night, Sam Hopper, came very close to legging out an infield single but the Grandor defense made the play to close out the game.
