WC splits doubleheader

West Carleton Electric hosted Pontiac Flyers and Vars Aces on Tuesday night Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Fitzroy Harbour.

The first game saw the Flyers score three in the top of the seventh to win 5-2. Drew Hathway earned the win while Adam Rueckwald took the loss. Conner Hopper scored both of WC's runs on solo homers. Hathway and Ethan Howard had RBIs and Matt Greer hit a two run homer for Pontiac.

In the late game West Carleton got out to a 7-0 lead on the Aces, then held on for a 10-6 win. Finn Barton started for WC and Rueckwald got the win in relief. Brad Porter started for Vars and Nick Ellis took the loss in relief. Bryce Rebertz had a two run homer for WC, while Hopper, Alex Strathern (2), Trevor Barton, Gabe Brown, Dylan Rorwick (2) and Rueckwald all had RBIs. The Aces runs were scored on a Brad Pender two run homer, a Kurtis Summers grand slam and a two RBI double by Will Dunk.
