GeeGees win 4 over the weekend

University of Ottawa Gee-Gees Women's Softball team had a 4 - 2 weekend to remain in first place in the OUS East Division.

On Friday night the Gee-Gees travelled to Sydenham to play a doubleheader against Queen's University. The first game of the weekend was a pitcher's duel between Brooke Cammisuli (Whitby, ON) and the reigning OUS Top Pitcher Maddie Hickingbottom. Queen's came out on top winning 2 - 1. Amanda Rastad (Coquitlam, BC), Ava Reid (Oromocto, NB), and Chloe Milne (Gatineau, QC) had hits for the Gee-Gees and Makenna Limb (Whitby, ON) had the lone RBI. The second half of the doubleheader went the Gee-Gees' way as they won 11 - 1 in 4 innings. Serena Parlee (Riverview, NB) had the win on the mound and allowed only 4 hits. Jordan Pickard (Kemptville, ON), Sam Bartley (Oshawa, ON), Sarah Power (Middle Cover, NL) all had two hits a piece while the team collectively stole 8 bases in the game.

On Saturday, the Gee-Gees continued down the 401 to play the University of Toronto. U of T won the first game 14 - 4. It was a rough defensive game for the Gee-Gees with several uncharacteristic errors. Cammisuli had the start on the mound and gave up 8 unearned runs while Parlee, Josie Rogers (Moncton, NB) and Kate Biamonte (Niagara Falls, ON) worked in relief. The second game of the day was a real turnaround for the Gee-Gees which resulted in a 5 - 4 win. Parlee got the win on the mound with two innings of scoreless relief from Cammisuli. Power was 2 for 3 with a triple and Bartley had an RBI double.

On Sunday the Gee-Gees were back in Ottawa for two games against TMU at the Carp Fairgrounds. The Gee-Gees swept both games 8 - 1 and 8 - 0. Cammisuli threw a four-hitter in the first game. Rastad was 3 for 3 and Limb was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a triple. In the sixth game of the weekend Parlee was one hit short of a perfect game. Kaitlyn Flear (Sydenham, ON), Milne, and Pickard had 2 RBIs each while Ela Day-Bedard (Aylmer, QC) had a solo homerun.

The Gee-Gees are back home next Saturday (October 10th) at the Carp Fairgrounds for the final two games of the regular season against Queen's before hosting the OUS Championships in Carp October 17th and 18th.
