uOttawa improves to 10-2

The uOttawa Gee-Gees women's softball team won all four games this past weekend to improve to 10-2 and clinch a spot in the OUS Championship. On Saturday, Ottawa faced the TMU Bold and handily won the first game 19-3. Amanda Rastad (Coquitlam, BC), Ava Reid (Oromocto, NB) and Sarah Power (Middle Cove, NL) all had 3 hits while Erin Federal (Milton, ON) got the win on the mound. 

In the second game of the day the Gee-Gees won 4-1 with an excellent pitching performance from Brooke Cammisuli (Whitby, ON) with Serena Parlee (Riverview, NB) coming in for the save. Ottawa scored all four runs in the 4th inning which was highlighted by triples from Sam Bartley (Oshawa, ON) and Kaitlyn Flear (Sydenham, ON). 

On Sunday the Gee-Gees faced off against the York Lions and put on an impressive offensive display winning 23-8 and 20-10. In game one every player in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit. Parlee had 3 hits and was the winning pitcher while Alexis Brown (Palmerston, ON) pitched two innings of relief.

In the second half of the doubleheader Flear, Bartley, and Josie Rogers (Moncton, NB) all had 3 hits while Chloe Milne (Gatineau, QC) hit a towering three run homerun. Federal had the win on the mound with relief from Cammisuli. 

As a team the Gee-Gees scored 66 runs and stole 34 bases over the weekend. Next weekend Ottawa hits the road again to play Queen’s Friday and U of T Saturday before returning home to play TMU at the Carp Fairgrounds on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
