Team Easton edges WC Electric

Team Easton defeated West Carleton Electric 3-2 in a very well played fastball game in Stittsville on Wednesday night.

Dan Konkle had the pitching win, allowing 2 runs over seven innings on five hits, with sixteen strikeouts.

Mark Wright also pitched well but took the loss, allowing 3 runs in five innings on five hits, walking three, hitting one batter and striking out four. Bud Hanlon pitched one inning in relief.

Fitzroy Harbour scored in the first, with Jon Daley hitting a one out single and being brought in on an RBI single by Shawn Rebertz.

Easton responded with a run in the second, with Cory Morrison leading off with a single, being sacrificed to second by John Peck, and Dan Konkle hitting an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fifth Scott Marion hit a lead off single. Mark Wright retired the next two batters, but Randy Peck then hit a line drive home run to right field to put Easton up 3-1.

WC Electric rallied in the top of the seventh with Shawn Rebertz hitting a lead off double. Michael Cavanagh then hit an RBI single to draw the Electric within one. Konkle then struck out Steve Johnson. Neil Murphy sacrifice bunted Cavanagh to second base bringing up Todd Clouthier. Clouthier hit a line drive to left-centre that looked like it would drop to score the tying run, but Scott Marion came up with a running catch to seal the victory for Team Easton.

Easton improves to 3-0 in league play while WC Electric falls to 2-3.
