Pontiac leads UOVMFL semifinal 2-1
from Shawn Laframboise
Pontiac over Shawville 6-0 in Men's Play
Valley Junior final tied at 1 between Shawville and Micksburg
Game three in the first round of UOVMFL play went down in Shawville Tuesday night as the Royals ousted the Athletics 6 - 0 to take a 2 - 1 lead in the best of five series.
Lenny Burger had the win for Pontiac throwing six innings of shut-out ball. Matt Greer came on in the seventh in relief to close out the game. Jon Storie took the loss for Shawville, throwing all seven innings.
The Royals got to Storie right away, scoring four runs in the first inning. Joe McCleary, in his newly defined lead off spot, had a hot stick going 3 / 4 and scoring the games first (and winning run). The Royals have a history of blowing big leads and knew that no lead was safe coming into the dreaded seventh inning that has plagued them so many times in the past. In an effort to save some gas for Thursday night's match-up, Burger handed the ball to Cooney to close out the deal. After loading up the bases right away, Greer buckled down and retired the next three batters to preserve the victory.
The Royals will look to close out the series Thursday, as part of a rare Fastball double-header in Shawville. The Royals vs Athletics game is scheduled for 8:30, following a game that sees the Shawville Jr Snappers take on the Micksburg Jr Twins at 7:00. The first game of the night is game 3 (also best-of-five) of the finals in the McNab junior league and it is currently tied at one game apiece.

I wouldn't say we have a history of blowing leads...we definately gave away game 2, that is obvious, but I think the "history" of blowing leads that you mentioned was something that hung over us when we had a certain "TEAM 6" superstar on the mound for us. Thankfully, he and that "history" are in the past.

tim, it shouldnt come as surprise to hear that... game reports from him are always biased
Shawn plays for the Royals so I don't know how that is bias
Game reports from me are always biased? How does me saying that my own team has a history of blowing leads make it biased for our team?
