WC Electric defeat Snappers 5-0 in pre-season tune up
On Sunday, the Shawville Snappers of the Ottawa RA league visited the Fitzroy Harbour WC Electric of the GOFL for a pre-season tune up game in the Harbour.
WC Electric came out on top 5-0. Pitchers Brad Porter, Steve Cavanagh and Jason Armstrong combined for the shut out for Fitzroy. Matt Greer and Earl Kearns threw for Shawville.
Despite some sleep deprivation, new dad Trevor Barton led the way offensively for WC Electric, going 3 for 3 at the plate, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Shawn Rebertz, also a new dad in the last week, had 2 RBIs for the home side. Adam Brown, Steve Cavanagh and Todd Clouthier scored the other runs for Fitzroy.
Bubba Eades had what looked like a sure home run for Shawville in the top of the sixth when he hit a towering shot that looked like it was going over the "grey monster" in right field - until it dropped directly on the top bar of the fence and bounced back on the field for a double. The Snappers had several base runners and had a man on third in four innings, but failed to score get a run across.
