WC Electric 10 Ottawa Blitz 1

WC Electric defeated the Ottawa Blitz 10-1 in 5 innings of GOFL play on Tuesday night in Fitzroy Harbour.

Jim Ryan threw very well in getting the win for WC, while Jamie Blakely took the loss for the Blitz.

All nine batters in the WC line up had at least one hit, in racking up 16 hits over 5 innings, a stark contrast to the team's weekend performance.

After two scoreless innings, WC Electric struck first in the bottom of the third inning. Adam Brown led off with a double and moved to third on a ground out. Todd Clouthier then laid down a squeeze bunt, but Brown was out at home on a nice defensive play by Blitz catcher Darron Barr. However Clouthier later score to make the game 1-0 after singles by Mike Cavanagh and Neil Murphy.

WC Electric padded their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Troy Wilson led off with a double, was moved to third on a Steve Johnson sac bunt, and was scored by a Steve Cavanagh single. After Steve Cavanagh moved to second on an errant pick off attempt, Trevor Barton cashed him with an RBI single. Mike Cavanagh drove in Barton for the third run of the inning.

The Blitz responded with a rally in the top of the fifth to make the score 4-1. Jamie Blakely hit a one out single, and Dan Galette reached on an infield error. Duane Bromley then hit a 3-2 pitch to right to drive in Blakely.

However WC Electric responded in the bottom of the fifth to score six runs on seven hits and a walk to make the score 10-1. Shawn Rebertz had two singles in the inning, and other singles were hit by Steve Johnson, Steve Cavanagh, Todd Clouthier, Mike Cavanagh and Neil Murphy as the game was then called on the mercy rule.

Jim Ryan had his strongest pitching outing of the year for the 'Trics, getting the win over 5 innings, scattering 6 hits, allowing no earned runs, striking out 8 and walking one. The 'Trics made one error.

Jamie Blakely took the loss, allowing 16 hits, 9 earned runs, striking out 7 and walking one. The Blitz made three errors.
