Manotick splits double header Wednesday night

Manotick Lomor Printers lost to the Ottawa Blitz 5-3 (Blitzos' first ever GOFL win) in the first game of their doubleheader last night in Manotick, then defeated Quyon Flyers 8-7 in the second game of their double dip.

Manotick scored first, in the 4th when Adam Bickell singled, stole second and scored on a Steve Walman single. Jason Smith started and was throwing well for 5 innings but tired in the 6th. The Blitz got 3 runs in that inning on 3 triples and a single. The Printers came back to tie it on a Walman homer and a Lindsay Medynski RBI single. The Blitzos replied with 2 more in the 7th and held on for the win.

It was a 6-6 tie after 2 innings before a fastball game broke out and quieted things. The 2 teams combined to send 17 men to the plate in the second inning with Manotick batting around.

Trevor Lahey came in to relieve Shannon Borho in the second for the Printers. Joran Graham threw a complete game for the Flyers.

Manotick took the lead in the fifth on a Steve Walman triple and an RBI groundout. Quyon tied it in the top of the 7th after Joe McCleary got his 3rd hit of the night, a double, and was driven in by pitcher Joran Graham. The Printers loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 7th and won the game when Calvin Medynski singled through a drawn in infield to score Adam Bickell. 8-7 final.
