WC Electric 5-0 over Greely in Friday Night Fastball
West Carleton Electric beat the Greely DNTW Eagles by a score of 5-0 in GOFL play on Friday night in Fitzroy Harbour.
Bud Hanlon had the complete game 4-hit shutout for WC Electric while Shannon Borho took the loss with relief from Ryan Cox.
Greely threatened in the top of the first when Mike Savoie doubled with one out. Shannon Borho was then hit by a pitch putting two men on. Hanlon pitched out of the jam to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.
Both teams then proceeded to have problems on offense, as no more then 5 men were sent to the plate in each subsequent inning for both teams. Both teams turned a double play in their second half of the inning. The score remained tied through five and a half innings.
West Carleton Electric finally broke through to score five in the sixth. Beef Johnson led things off with a single. He was move to second on a Michael Cavanagh sac bunt. After Shawn Rebertz walked, Steve Cavanagh hit an RBI single scoring Johnson and moving Rebertz to third, puttring WC Electric on the board. Jon Daley came in to run for Steve Cavanagh, and stole second. Neil Murphy hit another single, scoring rebertz and moving Daley to third. Murphy stole second, then Troy Wilson hit a 2RBI double to left putting WC Electric up 4-0. A subsequent Jason Armstrong single drove in another run, and then Ryan Cox came in to relief Borho, retiring the next two on ground balls.
Greely had a brief spark in the top of the seventh when Tyler Cox hit a one out single, but Hanlon closed the door, earning the complete game shutout.
