Fitzroy gets revenge over Carp
OK, so not in the GOFL, but in West Carleton Minor Softball.
I'm pleased to report that Fitzroy Harbour Atom 5-pitch Team #1 defeated Carp Team #3 in a hard fought game in Carp on Wednesday night. (We're not supposed to keep score, but admit it all you coaches out there - you're keeping score in your head.)
Owen Brown was a stellar 3-3 and had an assist on one of two put-outs in the game. There's hope yet for the Brown family to produce a ball player!
The Atom league in West Carleton has about 90 kids participating (2000, 2001, 2002 birth years), with nine teams located in Fitzroy Harbour, Carp, Kinburn and Dunrobin. I'm crossing my fingers for some future 'Trics.
I am also pleased to report that at this age level, Fitzroy's softball teams (2) outnumber Fitzroy's soccer teams (1) - the only village in West Carleton that can claim that. Not that I hate soccer or anything....
Anyway, sorry for the divergence, back to regular Eastern Ontario Fastball Blog coverage.
