Toledo Jets Peewee Fastball update
from Luke Healey
Toledo Peewee Jets hoping to rebound after slow start.
The Toledo GIM peewee Jets fastball club knew things would not be easy playing in the bantam division of the Augusta fastball league, but a 1 and 3 start was not anticipated. Two losses to Greenbush and close 3-2 loss to Athens leave them with only 2 points in the current standings. The two points coming from a 10-4 win over Smiths Falls in their home opener.
The pitching has been good with Matt Robertson and Kirk Jordan both putting in strong efforts. Austin Healey sidelined with a leg injury is expected back on the mound in a week.
Upcoming tournaments in Greenbush and Colburg will hopefully prepare them for the eliminations in Stratford later this month. This tournament will select the two teams representing Ontario at the Eastern Canadians and will also seed the teams for the provincials later in the summer.
Coach John Robertson expects things to improve significantly when the hitting gets more consistent and we get our full line up healthy. Both coaches are looking forward to the Cobourg Peewee tournament, as it will give them their first glimpse of how they stack up against the other Peewee clubs from Ontario.
