Canada Games gets rid of Men's Softball

with info from Mike Branchaud

Despite the best efforts of Softball Canada, appeals and legal challenges, the arbitrator's decision is now final for 2009 and 2013 and men's softball is out of the Canada Games. This was a tournament for males 19 and under.

Disappointing I'm sure for the young male fastball players across the country.

However, Softball Canada has put together a Invitational International Tournament for boys 19 and under (Midget) to be played just before the Canada Games in PEI next July. There are currently 10 Provinces/Territories, a New Zealand Team and a team from Utah in the USA. They hope to get 2 more International Teams for a field of 14.

so ridiculous, and everyone wonders why softball is not exploding!

i can't believe that S.C. would do something like that, but i guess it wasn't too far off ever since the olympic bullshat.

still though, i am pretty surprised at that decision.
