Blitzos defeat WC Electric 5-1
The Ottawa Blitz defeated West Carleton Electric by a score of 5-1 in GOFL play in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday night.
Derick Bulley had the complete game win. Steve Cavanagh took the loss with relief from Andy Barber.
The Blitz started in the first scoring two. Andrew Bruce led off with a single, moved to second on a passed ball and moved to third on Derek Bergeron's bunt single. Bergeron then stole second. After a ground out and a pop out, Russ Mitchell was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ron Hrcyak's single then scored two runs to put the Blitz up by a pair.
The visitors added two more to their lead in the second. Andrew Bruce again singled as did Derek Bergeron, and both of them scored on a Will Mood triple to stake a 4-0 lead.
WC Electric put one on the board in the fourth after Neil Murphy doubled and was brought in on a Jeff Cavanagh single.
Blitz made the lead four once again scoring one in the top of the fifth. Will Mood reached second on an error and scored on a Russ Mitchell single.
Fitzroy threatened in the sixth when Neil Murphy and Jeff Cavanagh both singled and advanced to second and third on a wild pitch, but they were stranded on base.
The Blitzos loaded the bases in the seventh with two out on singles by Will Mood and Derick Bulley plus Russ Mitchell reaching on an error, but Andy Barber managed to induce a ground ball to hold them off the board.
