Blitz defeat Carp 6-4

The Ottawa Blitz defeated Carp I4C Victory 6-4 on Thursday night in GOFL play.

Frank Cox got the start for Carp (3IP) while Dan Konkle took the loss in relief (4IP).

Jamie Blakely went the distance for the Blitz. (7IP, 4 R, 1 ER)

Kevin O'neil started the Blitz off in the third with a base hit to left. Passed ball moved him to second. Jamie Blakely drove him home with a hard double to go up one.

Carp answered back in the bottom half. With players at second and third and two out, a throwing error scored two to put Carp up 2-1.

Konkle entered the fourth to have a quick 1-2-3 inning as did Blakely in the bottom half.

Top five, Blitz hitters woke up. With two out, the Blitz rallied with a walk to Russ Mitchel, a single by Jon Ferguson, a line drive to second by Blakely to score Mitchel, followed by a timely three run shot to centre field by Tony Searle. Blitz were now up 5-2.

Bottom five, Carp loads the bases and two infield bip's scored two before Blakely induced a final ground ball to end the inning. Blitz 5-4.

Top six, Marcel Mondoux started off with a single, SB and third strike passed ball to end up at third. Kevin O'neil legged out a tricky infield single to score the final run of the game and give a two run cushion. Blitz 6 - 4.

From there, Blakely finished the sixth unscaved and battled through the seventh with Carp's one through five hitters. Two runners were stranded with two K's and a 5-3 to finish the game.
