Blitz defeat WC Electric 9-5
The Ottawa Blitz were 9-5 winners over West Carleton Electric in GOFL play on a hot and muggy Tuesday night.
Derick Bulley was the winner and Andy Barber the loser as both throwers laboured over complete games in the humid conditions.
Blitzos score two in the top of the first frame when Russ Mitchell reached on an error and scored on Derick Bulley's home run.
Mitchell's solo shot made it 3-0 after two and a half.
The 'Trics responded with a pair of runs in the third. Andy Barber hit an infield single, move to second on a wild pitch and scored on Beef Johnson's single. Johnson stole second and scored on Jeff Cavanagh's single.
Ottawa put across four runs in the fifth for a big lead, putting together six hits and a sac fly in the inning.
Two runs by Fitzroy in the bottom of the sixth made it a bit closer as Dave Bahm doubled and was cashed on Adam Brown's single. Shawn Ryan's triple scored Brown to make it 7-4 for the Blitzos.
Back to back doubles and a triple in the top of seven padded the Blitz lead to 9-4.
The Electric could only respond with one in the seventh as Mitch Taylor plated Johnson who had singled and advanced on a walk and a fielder's choice.
