Kars Aces defeat WC Electric 14-6

Kars Aces beat West Carleton Electric 14-6 at the Grove on Wednesday.

Brad Porter had the win with relief from Corey Costello. Steve Cavanagh took the loss with relief from Andy Barber.

Fitzroy scored in the first when Andy Barber led off with a bunt single, moved to second on a Beef Johnson sac bunt, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a dropped third strike.

Kars responded with five in the bottom of the frame. Brad Pender drove in Kristian Knapp for the first run. A bases loaded triple by Matt Alkerton cashed three more, then Cory Alkerton drove in his brother to make it 5-1.

A big fourth inning from WC Electric put them in the lead. A bases loaded walk by Andy Barber scored his brother Jeff. Then Johnson's triple to right tied the game at 5. Derek Barber's single drove in Johnson to put the 'Trics up 6-5.

The lead was short-lived however as Kars sent fifteen men to the plate and put up a nine-run fourth to seal the victory. The Aces had four homers in the inning off the bats of Curtis Summers, Chad Costello, Scott Marion and Cory Alkerton. Corey Costello also had a two RBI single.

Corey Costello came in the top of the fifth on the slab to close and end the game by the mercy rule.
