Playoff time in the Glen

Eric Rosenquist sends on this report for the Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League

The GCMFL playoffs kicked off tonight (Monday) at the AY Jackson ball diamond in Kanata.

With two divisions of five teams, the format this season sees #4 vs. #5 in each division play a single game "play-in" for 4th place in the division. The winner then plays the #1 team in the division in a best of three series. Seeds #2 and #3 from both divisions face off in a best of three starting on Tuesday night. On Wednesday night, the #1 seed in each division takes on the winner of the "play-in" game.

In the "Glen" division, the teams vying for fourth place are Ottawa Home Services and D'arcy McGee's. The winner takes on the #1 seed in the division: the 13-1-2 East Side Mario's team with Billy Gerber pitching. Tuesday sees #2 ASAP Print Management with a 7-8-1 record against #3 Don Cherry's who finished one point back at 7-9-0.

In the "Cairn" division, the play-in game pits new team Broadway Bar & Grill against the veterans from Air1One Mechanical. The winner faces Taggart's Welding, who finished with a 12-3-1 record behind the pitching of Neil Cooke. On Tuesday, the #2 11-3-2 Mattamy Homes squad is home to #3 Laurysen Kitchens who finished 8-7-1.
