Tournament updates - Legends, Midget Elims - Results
At the Legends in Waterloo, the #23 Quyon Combat Flyers started off with a 4-0 win over the #22 Wellington Sox on Friday night. In the 8am game on Saturday, Quyon was up 2-1 against #15 K-W Cubs in the sixth, but ended up losing 6-2. At 12:30pm they faced #1 Jarvis and suffered a 10-1 loss. Following that they had a very close game with #5 Midland and lost 5-4. Quyon finishes 1-3 in the round robin - based on the tiebreaker, they advanced to a playoff round game at 10am on Sunday. In the playoff game, the Flyers lost 5-0 to Owen Sound, and finished 6th in the tournament. The New Zealand Black Sox won the tournament, defeating the Jarvis Travelers in the final.
Meanwhile, at the OASA Eliminations in Napanee, Andy Barber's Sydenham Cyclones started 3-0 by beating the Ottawa Valley Heat (from the Fitzroy Harbour Men's League) 12-2 and then defeated Milverton 6-3, following that up with a win over Elmira. However in their next game they got beat 12-0 by Wiarton and then lost 2-1 in 9 innings on Saturday morning to Oshawa and finished in fifth place. Top 4 teams at the Elims get a berth at the Midget Nationals.
