WC Electric win 6-3 over Carp

West Carleton Electric came back to defeat Carp I4C Victory 6-3 in GOFL play on Thursday night at the Fairgrounds.

Steve Cavanagh had the win for the Fitzroy while Neil Cooke took the loss.

Carp took an early 2-0 lead in the first. Aaron Amo led off with a single and stole second, scoring on a Brooks Paziuk RBI single with two out. Paziuk took second on the throw to the plate and was cashed on Neil Cooke's RBI single.

The Electric answered back with one in the top of the second. Beef Johnson tripled with two out and scored on a wild pitch.

I4C restored their two run lead in the bottom of the frame. Neil Drummond singled and stole second. After two strike outs, Amo reached on an error putting runners on the corners. Drummond scored on Eric Colvin's RBI single. That was it for the Carp offence as Cavanagh settled in and allowed only two baserunners (an infield single and an error) in the remaining five innings.

The Electric come back started in the fourth. Johnson again hit the ball hard and doubled with two out and scored on Dave Bahm's RBI single.

WC took the lead in the fifth. Again with two out, Derek Barber tripled. Jeff Barber then walked. Neil Murphy's soft pop up was misplayed, allowing Derek to score and an alert Jeff made it to third. When Johnson struck out, the ball eluded the catcher and Jeff scored to put the 'Trics up 4-3.

Insurance runs were put on the board in the sixth and seventh for West Carleton. Troy Wilson walked to lead off the sixth and scored on Andy Barber's triple. In the seventh, Jeff Barber singled, was moved to second on Murphy's sac bunt, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.

Brooks Paziuk shone defensively for Carp, making several nice plays at second base while Jon Daley was strong with a couple of nicely field ground balls at short for WCE.
